KTU: September Rush – All You Need To Know As A Fresher

For the freshers bet you’ve heard a lot about September rush saaa, allow me to explain what all that noise is about.

It is when the mangoes (first years, mostly girls) are ripe for the picking by “the dons” AKA continuing students. With your goody-two-shoes behaviours and naivety you become the perfect prey for the dons, it’s like you have a tag that reads donkomi ooo donko mi a ben wo ha. And they come with their strongest game to get you into their fold.

You will be hit on by older students. Maybe you are not used to this kind of attention and your esteem might be boosted but be wary of smooth-talking students who have been waiting for the ‘gold rush’ when young sweet and impressionable freshers join campus. It is advisable that you learn to read in between the lines and deal with it accordingly. Always make sure you do not go to visit friends you just made alone. Things can escalate quickly at a private hostel where drugs are put in unsuspecting young naive girls, so keep your eyes peeled and never leave anything to chance.

these times, “the Dons” come around, you will find all kinds of students posting as SRC Executives, Departmental Executives, Clubs Leaders, Hostels Reps, Class Reps and Even Lectures Or Staff Of The University. They will come trying to offer you some form of assistance calming to be an executive or officer of the mentioned above, you need to be careful or distances yourself from them. some will take you through the whole registration process and even try looking for a hostel for you, hey if you are not careful, you might think he is an angel sent to you, he is A wolf in sheep’s clothing. (A dangerous person who is pretending to be harmless; an enemy who is disguised as a friend. This idiom is a warning that you cannot necessarily trust someone simply because they appear to be kind and friendly)

There will be security men at the registration centres and all over campus, ask them for directions or help if you don’t understand anything

And be mindful of monies collected from you, question and ask of receipts if you have to pay whether on campus or at your hostels or in class, apart from the school fees which you have paid, students from departments, associations, clubs, denominational churches will come collecting dues from you.

NOTE: none of these should stop you from registration, they are not part of your school fees

Let me tell you of some September rush stories others experienced in their first year and

Gertrude

hmm my first lecture,it was really sad for me I didn’t know anyone by then and per the time table it was ccb 201 i got to campus and ask where ccb was,one funny thing is they will all say go there its right there you will and another person too will be like go there rather lol the class was 6am oh i looked for that particular class for more than an hour lol i even end up in one lecturer’s office all in the name of looking for ccb 201 hmm, he was like you mean they directed you to come and have you class i was really sad by then and he could see so he ask me the class and i told him and took me there it was 8:5am by then hmm i was really sad that day

On my timetable was MLS 101.. I didn’t know that was the course code so I was asking people for the ‘MLS Block’.. My class was 6am tho so I couldn’t because it was past 8am and still didn’t know where the class was held

Bismark

I fellowed a lady who tormented my life..I like her but she said she has a bf… If i talk to other ladies too, then she is mad with me. I was thinking it will click one-day but no avail…I performed very poor in my first semester bcos of her n this has prevented me from completing with first class.

HYPOCRISY at it’s best. 1% are angels yet still you can’t do away with the remaining demons all because you are an opportunist. You can still form *THE LESBIANISM CLUB* on campus, who cares… mtcheeeeew

Love is all about understanding. If a level 100 student will understand and give in, why should I worry myself on a continuous student who will be moving from one door to other. Apuuuu…

Hypocritical u say, if u are not bad, there are some guys who are bad.
If it’s ur sis going to school, how would u advice her?
Sometimes everything depends on a good start bro.

Some come to school and mess up their life bkos no one told them
Those I come across, I’ll tell them the truth, but u know, it depends on the person’s choice.
Even God leaves us with choice.

So are you trying to say the person should give in to sex?
Apart from it’s being a sin, it can ruin u.

If u are faithful to God, He’ll surely provide you with good things
