Industrial Attachment/Internship
1. What is an Industrial Attachment/Internship?
The Industrial Attachment/Internship is a structured, credit-bearing work experience designed to help students apply and enhance the knowledge and skills they have acquired in the classroom. This takes place within a professional setting that is relevant to the student’s field of study.
2. Eligibility
The following categories of students are eligible for industrial attachment/internship during the long vacation period:
-
All first and second-year students in the Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes
-
All first-year students in the Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) programme
-
All first-year students in university diploma programmes, including:
-
Diploma in Public Administration (DPA)
-
Diploma in Procurement (DPR)
-
Diploma in Business and Technology Accounting (DBTA)
-
Diploma in Business Administration (DBA)
-
Diploma in Fashion Design and Textiles (DFDT)
-
-
Selected programmes from the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme (as determined by department or faculty requirements)
3. Student Action Required
While the institution will assist with placement opportunities, these may not be sufficient for all students. As such, each student is being issued an official attachment letter to help them seek their own placement at a company or organisation of their choice, provided the services offered by the organisation align with the skills to be acquired as stated in the letter.
4. When to Submit Your Letter
Students may begin submitting their attachment letters immediately. All letters must be submitted by the end of the second semester. You are allowed to submit to as many organisations as you wish.
Note: Attachment officially begins one week after the start of the vacation. The earlier you secure your placement, the better.
5. Where to Submit Your Letter
Select companies or organisations that offer services relevant to the skills outlined in your attachment letter. This ensures your attachment will provide practical experience aligned with your academic programme.
