The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Friday as part of efforts to restore the forest cover of our country launched the project dubbed “One Student, One Tree” in support of the Green Ghana Day at the Accra High School.
Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Lands, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor said it is important to recognize that the country is depleted, statistics are frightening and their lack of aggressive afforestation has resulted in the depletion of the forest cover of the Country and adverse consequences of this situation.
“The time for action is now, we have to do something drastic and dramatic about it and this is why in accordance with the vision of H . E the president of the republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his instructions we have developed a two prone strategy to reverse the situation,” Samuel A. Jinapor stated.
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is committed to achieving the goal of one student planting a tree on June 11, 2021, which marks Green Ghana Day.
He commended the Ministry of Education (MoE) for partnering his outfit to launch the scheme which is going to see to every Ghanaian student planting a tree on June 11.
