The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament is expected to from today [Monday, January 20, 2020) consider the report of the Auditor-General on the public accounts of polytechnics (now Technical Universities).

Last week, the Committee began work on the Auditor General’s report for the period ended 31st December 2016

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) from the Greater Accra, Western and Volta Regions have already appeared before the committee.

Chairman of the Committee, James Klutse Avedzi who spoke to Citi News indicated that majority of the Technical Universities across the country will appear before the panel.

“We also expect to meet the rest of the districts and the Technical Universities in Ho, Accra, Cape Coast, Takoradi and Koforidua will be coming today.”

What happened at last PAC sitting

The Public Accounts Committee hearing was cancelled on last Monday  [January 13, 2020] when all Assemblies in the Central Region cited in both the 2015 and 2016 reports of the Auditor-General on the management and utilisation of the District and Municipal Assemblies Common Fund and other statutory funds, who were supposed to appear before the Committee failed to confirm their appearance.

Eight Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies were ordered to appear before the committee as soon as possible or face sanctions.

They were the Shai Osudoku, La Dadekotopon, Ada West, La Nkwantanang, Ada East, Adenta, Accra Metro and Ga East assemblies.
