EFFGH Calls On Government To Redress The Plight Of The People Of Dromankes3 In The Bono East Region

The principal street serving most Towns including Dromankese in the Bono East region is in a deplorable state and need a prompt attention to aid boost economic development and promote security in the Townships. Dromankese is situated in the Nkoranza north district with a population of about 5000 people. The road that links about Eleven (11) villages and serve as the only main road has become a death trap as vehicles get overturned driving through bigger potholes. The situation is worsened when it rains as drivers and passengers have to alight in muds to push stacked vehicles.

Dromankese contributes to the economic growth of the country. It’s largely inhabited by indigenous who are notably Farmers with produce ranging from crops such as cashew, maize, rice, yam, cassava, etc to cattle. These produce are transported to cities like Accra, Kumasi and Techiman, etc for consumption.

The assembly also generates revenue by taxing these farmers and traders for town development yet the town is deserted and lacks behind in terms of development while M. P of the area (Hon.Major RTD Derrick Oduro) refuses to address the plight of his people. The roads and market areas where economic activities take place is no place to patronize.

Taking the total percentage of revenue generated by the Assembly, Dromankese contribute 70% of the total revenue.

There are manholes in the middle of the market centre creating an unpleasant smell. Besides Economic Activities delayed, there are social concerns that needs to be addressed. Pregnant women get miscarriages while transported to local clinics and sick people are denied health care due to the bad state of the roads.

Vehicles that break up at night are exposed to robbery and physical abuse by armed robbers in the vicinity. Security personnel refuse to be at post because of the danger they are exposed to. There are no street lights or CCTVs to assist their work. The vigilant youth have made effort to counter this vice but to no avail.

We are using this medium to call on the Government institutions involved, Road and High ways minister and the Member of Parliament (Hon.Major RTD Derrick Oduro) for the area, as well as NGOs to make swift turns and save the current state of the people of Dromankese, so as to promote peace and socio-economic stability in the township. On a more serious note we sincerely express our disdain to the honourable member having served the Constituency for about Sixteen years without any major project undertaken. We therefore throw the challenge to the M.P, Hon. Derick Oduro who is also the Deputy Defence minister of Ghana to come to our aid and ensure his constituency gets the best of development.
