Dear Hon. Executives, (Elects)

It is a great pleasure to officially congratulate everyone on your victory to serve in the highest office of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

You have been elected by a majority vote to serve in your various portfolios, “to whom much is given, much is expected”. You will be the voice of the voiceless and communication will be key in your dealings and in delivering your mandates.

“The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is the legitimate representative organ of the student body, and it is the ONLY recognized mouthpiece of the student body. It is a member of the Ghana National Union of Technical Student (GNUTS)”; extracted from the SRC’s constitution.

Working with the Council since 2011, I have seen seven (7) different year groups of executives who have shown great working relations. We worked tirelessly and selflessly over the years to making the relay of student information from the University management and the Council in real-time, accessible and relevant to the students; making it the primary mandate of the Council.

Mr. Amexo Jonathan Eli, Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the 2011/2012-year group initiated on the need of an official website for the Council, where both current and past executives, Departmental/Associations, Articles/Publications, News/Events and other information relevant to students will be published. This was a brilliant project I developed and launched, and since then, it served as a relief to the Council in disseminating information and also served as a reference point for both past and current executives.

Over the years, the Council and I have managed it effectively and always finding innovative solutions with emerging technologies to making information get to each student regardless of place, time, medium and cost. We have added all social media platforms and WhatsApp line where students get assistance and feedbacks. We have also added a portal where students are currently printing their industrial Attachment letters from.

Hard work they say pays; I have received VVIP passes, prestige treatments at SRC programmes, and citations among others.

The most recent one;

My office works directly with the Public Relations Office (PRO) but takes instructions and directives from the Office of the SRC President. Also, other Offices, Committees and Sub-committees will need to channel or seek the concerns of the PRO to get their information relayed.

This is just a briefing of how my office co-works with the Council. An official meeting will be scheduled at the appropriate time where we can foster better working relations in your tenure of office.

Once again, I congratulate H.E. Raphael Elorm Dzivenu President elect and your Executives elects.

Wish you all the best.

Signed

Mr. Sundiata Bernard Ifaar
(Webmaster, KTUSRC)
